BUSINESS FUNCTION: Finance GRADE: ML1/SB3 SALARY: £34,060 to £40,508 per annum ROLE TYPE: Hybrid HOURS: 37 hours With Northern experiencing the most significant transformation in its history, this role has arisen at a very exciting time where an internal audit function has been created to support the new business. Central to this will be execution of the audit strategy to continually drive and embed a strong controls and compliance culture. The position holder will therefore play a critical role in: • Supporting the Head of Internal Audit in the development and completion of the programme of internal audit work for Northern. • Providing assurance around sufficiency and effectiveness of internal controls, and risk management procedures within the business. • Advising the business in the effective implementation of new systems and processes to ensure adequate controls and mitigations are in place. • Supporting the Head of Internal Audit in promoting a risk and controls culture within Northern. • Challenging current business processes suggesting commercially minded and value-adding improvements, leading to increased level of efficiencies. About you: You will hold a recognised Internal Audit or Accountancy qualification along with a degree, with demonstrable experience within a professional internal audit department. Given the very engaging nature of this role, you will be able to demonstrate high level of communication, conflict, and relationship management skills. You will have an aptitude for operating and interrogating finance and non-finance processes, combined with knowledge and experience of auditing and systems/controls testing. With the ability to gather, analyse and evaluate facts and present concisely (verbal and written), with attention to detail, and be organised with a commitment to quality. Showing you have the drive, resilience, and ability to thrive in a pressured environment, and willingness to explore opportunities with commitment to personal development. Demonstrable time management skills including the ability to manage interruptions, changing priorities and perform tasks in a high-pressure environment.
