Assistant Buyer / Assistant Category Manager
Location: Manchester - Hybrid (1/2 days a week in the office)
Type: Full Time, Permanent
I asked the hiring manager what they think the best thing about this role is, they said:
"It's a fantastic time to join RS's buying team as we accelerate growth across EMEA and the role of the Assistant Category Manager is crucial in the exciting plans we have. I will make sure that you thrive in the role, I will encourage new ideas and empower you to take ownership of your own supplier portfolio and projects, supported by the great team around you."
What will I be doing?
Working within our PPE and Safety category, you will be developing your knowledge of buying/category management by supporting the team with any administration tasks that need to be done. You will be working towards becoming a Category Manager in the next 2 years, where you will have the opportunity to manage your own portfolio of customers and clients.
What do I need to be successful?
This is an entry-level role, and at RS we will act like that. We aren't looking for experience or knowledge in a similar role but we are looking for transferable skills. We are looking for someone with:
* Good attention to detail
* Excellent communication skills
* Influencing skills
* The willingness to take ownership of projects
* An ability to use your own initiative to solve problems
You will need some experience in a customer-facing environment, but we can train skills; we need a good attitude.
What's in it for you?
At RS, as well as the usual employee benefits you'd expect from a FTSE listed company, including an annual performance bonus, private healthcare, and generous holiday, we have introduced several new Family Friendly Policies including:
* Help for people to take control of ongoing health conditions such as diabetes or asthma with £500 a year available for monitoring & consultation
* Support for neurodiverse colleagues and families with neurodiverse members
* Support for women at different life stages from streamlined fertility support to diagnosis and monitoring of both endometriosis and menopause
* Helping our LGBTQ+ community through enhanced coverage for trans colleagues
