We are seeking an enthusiastic and proactive Assistant Technician to join our dynamic technical operations team, which strives to provide sector-leading technical support for the MIB media facility and the wider University. The post holder’s primary responsibility will be the reliable and continuous operations of MIB’s media facility. You will assist in ensuring that all technical related areas are compliant and operate reliably and smoothly on a day-to-day basis by:
1. Acting as a point of contact and action for all building waste and media services related matters.
2. Ensuring that problems are resolved in a timely fashion by working with your team members and in close collaboration with external contractors and H&S teams.
3. Proactively ensuring that buildings operate to an excellent standard of housekeeping, organisation and safety.
4. Being responsible for carrying out and recording routine and statutory inspections and preventative maintenance. Such jobs may include but are not limited to: annual servicing, validation and on-off repairs to critical equipment, inspection of specialist safety monitoring systems (e.g. gas detection and oxygen depletion alarms), equipment and chemical waste disposal, equipment moves, compressed gas bottle changeovers and monitoring.
