We are hosted by Edinburgh Napier University and work in collaboration with the STEM ( Science, Technology, Engineering, Environment (Natural & Built) and Maths) sectors, academia, statutory and third sector bodies, and the Scottish Government for effecting a tangible and sustainable change, enabling more women to study, work and progress in these key sectors.
We believe in creating an inclusive and enjoyable place of work, and welcome discussions on flexible and hybrid working opportunities.
As we drive our programmes training and development of high quality and industry relevant STEM projects, we are currently recruiting a Deputy Director to take responsibility for operations and staff management, accountability for meeting income generation targets and oversight of stakeholder engagement.
The Role:
The role of Deputy Director is crucial to the ongoing delivery of Equate Scotlands service offering and one that will give you an excellent opportunity to use your experience of establishing and managing positive stakeholder relationships to engage employers, trade unions, public sector bodies and education and training institutions across the STEM sector, with the objective of promoting and embedding gender equality.
Your excellent interpersonal and communication skills will be your most useful asset here as you lead on the development and delivery of the training strategy to STEM sector partners and manage Equate Scotlands STEM career development programme through designing, testing, delivery, and budget management.
We appreciate that in previous job roles you will have had experience of income generation or business development so there will be ample opportunity for you to use these skills, as you engage with external stakeholders and partners and take on funder/steering committee relationship management responsibilities.
Your experience of designing and delivering training workshops will also serve you well as you plan and schedule training activity across the funding period, enabling Equate Scotland to achieve its income generation targets.
Furthermore, in the absence of the Director you will have the remit to use your people management skills to ensure there is always adequate coverage of all operational functions and funder reporting requirements, identify and prioritise capacity gaps which need to be filled, by stepping in as and when required.
This is an excellent opportunity for you to make a positive difference for women working in, entering or studying STEM, and make a tangible and sustainable change for women studying and working in these key sectors .
What we will need from you:
- Degree or equivalent or extensive relevant and demonstrable work related experience in a project or partnership role
- Proven ability to establish and manage positive relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
- Significant experience in designing and delivering training workshops
- Demonstrable experience of developing/advising on organisational strategy and policy development for employers.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills to interact effectively and appropriately with internal and external contacts at all levels of seniority, often involving a high degree of diplomacy.
