Main duties of the job
Duties and Responsibilities include:
1. Perform venipuncture to obtain blood samples for medical testing
2. Label vials accurately and maintain proper documentation of collected samples
3. Ensure patient identification and verify medical records for accuracy
4. Utilise aseptic techniques during specimen collection to prevent contamination
5. Handle specimens appropriately and transport them to the laboratory for analysis
6. Provide basic life support in case of adverse reactions during blood collection
7. Maintain a clean and organised work area in compliance with health and safety regulations

Job responsibilities
Job Summary:
The Phlebotomist will assist the Practice clinical team in the provision and delivery of prescribed programmes of patient care, work strictly in accordance with Practice protocols & guidelines. Duties and Responsibilities include:
1. Obtaining patient consent for the collection of a blood sample
2. Performing venepuncture in accordance with practice protocols
3. Maintaining accurate patient records on System One
4. The correct labelling, packaging and storing of samples
5. Effective use of the specimen log, resolving any discrepancies
6. Ensuring samples are sent to the laboratory in a timely manner
7. Maintaining an effective liaison with the laboratory staff at Royal County Sussex, Brighton
8. Working collaboratively with the nursing team, seeking guidance when necessary for patient related matters

* Must have phlebotomy experience
