Salary: £706.04 weekly, £18.58 per hour
Would you love to be part of a professional engineering team that maintains and repairs a modern and varied fleet of vehicles? How about developing your own technical skills on future hybrid and electric vehicles while mentoring our keen-to-learn apprentices to pass on your existing knowledge?
If that sounds like something you want to be involved in, we’d love to have you on board – and we’ll give you all the training and development you need to get to where you want to go!
Stagecoach London operates 1200 vehicles over 10 sites, and our West Ham team is looking for people from a background in vehicle electrical engineering to be part of our growing team. You may be in a truck/HGV, rail, light commercial, or automotive setting at the moment but fancy a change of vehicle to enhance your skill set. Likewise, if you’ve got PCV experience, you’ll still find new opportunities to learn given the variety of modernity of our fleet.
Our West Ham garage operates a varied range of vehicles from single deckers to double deckers. We operate Scania and Alexander Dennis vehicles, and you’ll have some state-of-the-art machines to work on!
You’ve probably seen some of our vehicles driving around East London, transporting our fantastic customers around the area. Those customers rely on our services to get them to work, to the high street, to hospitals, to days away, and nights out – and as part of our engineering team, you’ll be a key part in making sure our vehicles are in tip-top condition to do just that. It’s a really important role within our garage, so we’ll make sure you’re as looked after as our vehicles are!
You'll be set in good stead, currently possessing motor vehicle qualifications and experience; however, we’ll train you on everything else you need to know, and you’ll be supported by a great team of fellow Electricians, Mechanics, Technicians, Storespeople, Administrators, and Engineering Managers who all pull together to do a brilliant job.
And interestingly, it’s not all garage-based work – you could well find yourself out and about dealing with vehicle issues on the road, so it won’t always be the same four walls you’re looking at! Aside from the reward of helping to deliver an incredible experience to our customers, there’s plenty more we can offer:
* Job Security: We’ve been going since 1980, we turn over £1.3bn, and we’re not planning on hanging our boots up anytime soon!
* Safe Environment: We provide boots, overalls, and specialist equipment, so no need to worry about being safe and protected, or having the right kit for the job.
* Free Travel: For you and a household member on TfL bus and rail services (this is a non-contractual benefit). That means on your days off (of which there are plenty!) you can be off shopping without worrying about parking the car or heading off for a day in the city without paying a fortune in fuel!
* Great Income & Benefits: Plus a good pension scheme to look after you after you’ve hung up the spanner or multimeter!
* Promotions: If you’re happy sticking as an Electrician, then that’s absolutely fine by us…but if you do want to progress, we’ll support you every step of the way. You will be given exposure to work that will develop your skills and experience to allow you to progress your career further. The vast majority of our Engineering Managers and Directors are home-grown talent – so that could very well be you in the not-too-distant future!
So, if you have an engineering background with a vehicular slant (truck, haulage, automotive, plant, rail, farm – if it moves, it’s good experience for working on buses) and have a passion for great work with a great team, then we can’t wait to receive your application!
Stagecoach workplace culture is one where everyone can be themselves and where all the differences our people bring to the business are celebrated. We welcome applications from all, irrespective of background, gender, ethnicity, race, religion, beliefs, disability, neurodiversity, sexual orientation, or age.
