ROLE PURPOSE
Our Client is looking for a motivational educator to join their team as a Health and Care/Foundation Tutor based at their Ipswich centre in Ipswich, Suffolk. Their Ipswich centre provides further education for learners aged 16-18 or 19-24 with an EHCP. You will plan engaging schemes of work, set and review targets, track learner progress and assess in relation to awarding body regulations. They are eager to hire an individual who believes all young people deserve an enriching education and opportunities to better their future and prepare them for further education, employment, and adulthood.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Plan, prepare and teach lessons on personal, social, and development including life skills.
2. Create engaging schemes of work that demonstrate sequencing of learning and progression.
3. Create engaging lessons that are full of learning and development.
4. Plan for learners' needs through the use of initial assessment, previous learning, and EHCPs.
5. Differentiate lesson plans and resources in line with learner needs as outlined in EHCP documents or through observations.
6. Track the progress of learners using appropriate and provided tracking systems.
7. Provide and deliver engaging sessions meeting the individual needs of all learners.
8. Plan and develop SMART-appropriate learning plans for individual learners alongside monitoring their EHCP outcomes.
9. Monitor and assess learner progress ensuring timely achievements through the year, record and report the development, progress, and attainment of students in accordance with our clients' assessment policies and in line with the principles of assessment for Learning.
10. Conduct pastoral responsibilities as required.
11. Conduct 1:1 progress reviews of qualifications and personal skills.
12. Manage any behaviour issues that arise in line with our clients' policy, with support from the Centre Manager.
13. Implement our clients' inclusion and equal opportunity policies.
14. Ensure that learning support assistants and visiting speakers are used effectively in the learning environment.
15. Cover other subject areas as appropriate if required.
16. Organise and implement trips and events for learning.
17. Provide appropriate encouragement, guidance, and support to learners to help them progress.
18. Participate in events/open days as required.
19. Support for absent colleagues as required.
20. Participate in OFSTED inspections as required.
21. Attend team meetings.
ROLE REQUIREMENTS
1. Qualified to PTLLS/DTLLS/Cert Ed/PGCE (Essential) (or willing to work towards a teaching qualification).
2. SEN qualifications (desirable).
3. Experience of teaching learners with various abilities or learning needs (Essential).
4. Assessor qualification.
5. GCSE (or equivalent L2 Functional skills) in English and maths at grade C/4 or above (Essential).
6. Experience working with learners who present learning differences (Essential).
7. Knowledge of EHCPs.
