As a History teacher, you will be instrumental in delivering engaging and thought-provoking lessons that captivate student's interest in historical events, figures, and themes. You will be responsible for teaching History across Key Stage 3 and Key Stage 4, helping students develop their understanding of historical concepts, critical thinking, and research skills.
You will also prepare students for their exams, ensuring they have a solid grasp of the subject matter and can apply their knowledge effectively.
Key Responsibilities:
* Design and implement engaging History lessons tailored to meet the diverse learning needs of students aged 11 to 16.
* Foster a classroom environment that promotes active learning, critical thinking, and respectful discussions on historical topics.
* Develop and deliver a curriculum that explores a wide range of historical periods, events, and viewpoints, helping students build strong analytical skills.
* Regularly evaluate student performance, offering constructive feedback and setting realistic, challenging targets for improvement.
* Provide guidance and support for students in their exam preparation, including advice on effective study techniques and coursework completion.
* Inspire students to develop a deep interest in history, encouraging them to explore historical themes and topics independently.
* Coordinate and take part in extracurricular activities such as history clubs, educational trips, and school projects that enrich student's historical understanding.
* Work collaboratively with colleagues to enhance the History curriculum and share effective teaching methods and resources.
* Adhere to the school’s mission, values, and policies, and contribute positively to the overall school culture by fostering a welcoming and inclusive atmosphere.
Ideal Candidate:
The ideal candidate will be a passionate, inspiring, and committed History teacher with a strong background in teaching History at the secondary school level. You should have excellent communication skills and the ability to engage and motivate students of varying abilities. A deep understanding of historical topics, enthusiasm for the subject and a commitment to continuous professional development are essential.
You should be adaptable, open to new teaching strategies and able to work collaboratively with colleagues to enhance student learning experiences.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
