Job Introduction
We’re thrilled to offer an exciting opportunity for an Operations Executive in Outside Broadcast Technical Management. In this role, you’ll collaborate with editorial teams, production management, and third-party facility suppliers to deliver a wide range of outside broadcasts. From small, single-camera setups to large-scale, high-profile events like the FIFA World Cup and Olympic Games, you’ll play a key part in ensuring smooth operations across diverse productions.
Main Responsibilities
* Collaborative Relationships: Build and maintain strong, collaborative working relationships with third-party Outside Broadcast facility suppliers, connectivity providers, and internal stakeholders within BBC Sport and across the wider BBC teams.
* Industry Awareness & Knowledge Sharing: Stay up to date with the latest industry trends, technological advancements, and best practices. Share your expertise and experiences with colleagues to foster continuous learning and innovation within the team.
* Sustainability Focus: Work towards achieving sustainability targets within your operations, ensuring that all projects align with BBC Sports goals and practices.
* Representation & External Relationships: Represent BBC Sport in interactions with sporting governing bodies, third-party broadcasters, and other external partners, ensuring positive and effective relationships that support the delivery of high-quality broadcasts.
* Procurement & Proposal Writing: Collaborate with production management to procure third-party suppliers, including drafting and managing Requests for Proposals (RFPs) to ensure that supplier selection meets both operational and financial requirements.
* Team Leadership on Location: Lead teams working on location, ensuring effective coordination and seamless execution of broadcast operations during live events and on-site productions.
Are you the right candidate?
You will have:
* Significant experience in a similar role within a large matrix organisation.
* Proven experience and thorough knowledge of the Outside Broadcast industry with a strong operational or engineering background.
* Excellent knowledge of the legislation, regulatory and health and safety framework within which OBs have to work.
* Excellent organisational and planning skills.
* Extensive experience of using business systems.
* Financial skills and proven ability to manage budgets and scheduling resources.
* Experience of working collaboratively with stakeholders.
