As we continue to expand, we are looking for a Management Accountant to join our finance team and play a key role in financial planning, reporting, and cost control. The Role We are seeking an experienced and strategic Management Accountant to support the Managing Director in delivering accurate financial reporting, performance analysis, and compliance with industry and regulatory requirements. This role will be responsible for overseeing budgeting, forecasting, variance analysis, and financial planning to drive business efficiency and profitability. As a Management Accountant, you will collaborate with key stakeholders, including operational teams, resource planners, and compliance teams, project delivery teams, ensuring financial decisions align with recruitment and project delivery operations and strategic growth initiatives. Key Responsibilities Financial Reporting & Analysis Prepare and deliver monthly management accounts, providing insightful financial analysis to senior leadership. Monitor revenue streams, cost efficiency, and profitability, ensuring alignment with business objectives. Conduct variance analysis, identifying key trends and making recommendations to improve financial performance. Oversee cash flow forecasting and working capital management, ensuring the business remains financially robust. Ensure compliance with financial regulations, company policies, and industry standards. Budgeting & Forecasting Assist in the preparation of annual budgets and quarterly re-forecasts, ensuring financial plans align with strategic objectives. Work closely with operational and sales teams to integrate workforce demand planning into financial forecasting. Support business growth by providing financial insights on expansion opportunities, tender pricing strategies, and investment decisions. Cost Control & Performance Monitoring Oversee cost allocation and control, ensuring recruitment operations remain cost-effective while maintaining service quality. Identify and implement efficiency improvements to enhance financial processes and resource management. Collaborate with Resource Planning and Operations teams to assess workforce cost structures, contractor pay rates, and margin analysis. Monitor contractor payroll and supplier payments, ensuring compliance with financial agreements and accuracy in financial reporting. Financial Activity Overview and management of sales invoicing and Applications for Payment (AfP) to Clients (Principal Contractors). Commercial control and management of supply chain for both recruitment/resource and project self delivery. Overview and management of payroll - PAYE, Umbrella and CIS in accordance with regulations, including the Working Rule Agreement (WRA). Compliance & Risk Management Ensure all financial activities comply with HMRC, tax regulations, VAT filings, and payroll legislation. Assist in preparing for audits and regulatory reviews, ensuring full financial transparency. Implement financial controls and risk management strategies to minimise financial exposure and fraud risks. Work closely with Compliance and HSQE teams to ensure financial reporting aligns with industry regulations. Stakeholder Collaboration & Business Partnering Partner with Operations, Sales, and Recruitment & Project Teams to ensure financial strategies support business growth. Provide financial insights to senior management and department heads, helping them make data-driven decisions. Support tendering and bid pricing, ensuring financial viability of contracts. Engage with external auditors, tax advisors, and banking partners to ensure smooth financial operations. What We’re Looking For Essential Skills & Experience: ✔ Qualified or Part-Qualified Accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA) with experience in management accounting, budgeting, and forecasting. ✔ Strong analytical and financial modelling skills, with experience in variance analysis, cost control, and financial planning. ✔ Proven experience working within construction, recruitment, or labour supply industries is highly desirable. ✔ Strong understanding of payroll processing, contractor payments, and VAT compliance. ✔ Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel, financial software (Sage, Xero, or similar), and ERP systems. ✔ Ability to translate complex financial data into actionable insights for non-financial stakeholders. ✔ Experience in working with tender pricing, contract profitability analysis, and operational finance support. ✔ A proactive, hands-on approach, with the ability to work independently and as part of a dynamic team.
