Job Description: Vice President, Business Development (Space & Astronomy) Position Summary: The Vice President (VP) of Business Development (BD) is a strategic leadership role responsible for developing and executing a comprehensive business development strategy aligned with the objectives of the Space & Astronomy vertical (S&AV). The VP BD ensures alignment with operational capabilities and budgetary considerations while driving revenue growth and pipeline expansion. Leading a global team of regional sales and business development managers, the VP BD will oversee efforts across various markets, including Space, Astronomy, Science, and Defence, and in different regions such as EMEA, APAC, and North America. They will also collaborate with engineering teams to deliver differentiated products and solutions to meet customer needs. Key Responsibilities: Order Intake Leadership: Responsible for achieving and exceeding stretch order intake targets, from lead generation to contract award. Pipeline Development: Expand the opportunity pipeline within specified business sectors, generating effective leads. Customer Engagement: Understand customer business needs and deliver tailored marketing proposals by leveraging the full product and solution portfolio. Technical Representation: Act as a bridge between customers and internal technical experts to promote technical capabilities and solutions. Market Analysis: Monitor market trends and future customer needs to identify growth opportunities. Translate insights into actionable strategies. Competitor Monitoring: Continuously track competitor activities and recommend necessary actions to maintain a competitive edge. Strategy Formulation: Develop and execute sales and marketing strategies, providing regular progress updates to senior management. Forecasting and Reporting: Use backlog data and market intelligence to create accurate pipeline forecasts and action plans to meet business targets. Skills and Experience: Proven Sales Leadership: Demonstrated success as a Challenger/Hunter/Closer in business development and sales roles. Industry Expertise: Extensive knowledge of the Space industry and a solid network of industry contacts, including primes, agencies, and governmental entities. Track Record of Growth: Proven ability to achieve growth with Tier 1 & Tier 2 industry stakeholders. Team Leadership: Experience managing and motivating international teams to achieve high performance. Communication Excellence: Strong presenting, negotiating, and influencing skills with the ability to engage effectively at all levels. Organizational Skills: Detail-oriented, results-driven, and capable of handling a dynamic and evolving international work environment.
