Farm Assistant-South London-Education-Salary £27,000 DOE
The Job:
As a Farm Assistant, you will work alongside the students, staff, and animals, creating meaningful opportunities for students to engage in animal care and farm work. Your role will involve caring for a variety of livestock and domestic animals, including feeding, mucking out, and maintaining a clean, safe, and welcoming environment for all. You'll act as a mentor and role model, demonstrating the daily tasks and responsibilities of farm life and encouraging students to actively participate.
The Company:
We are working with a unique educational environment dedicated to supporting students with social, emotional, and mental health needs. The school farm plays a vital role in providing students with hands-on learning experiences that encourage responsibility, compassion, and teamwork. They are seeking a dedicated Farm Assistant who will work closely with both the animals and students, helping to build a nurturing, engaging, and therapeutic farm experience.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Animal Care: Feed, muck out, and care for a variety of animals, ensuring their health and welfare are maintained.
2. Student Engagement: Work alongside students, teaching them the basics of animal care, including feeding, handling, and general farm maintenance.
3. Health & Safety: Maintain a safe and clean working environment, adhering to health and safety guidelines for animal and student welfare.
4. Mentorship: Build positive relationships with students, offering support, guidance, and encouragement in their interactions with animals and farm activities.
The Candidate:
1. Farm Experience: Solid experience in farm work, especially in animal care and husbandry.
2. Passion for Working with Youth: A genuine interest in working with children and young people, particularly those with social, emotional, or mental health needs.
3. Strong Communication Skills: Ability to communicate effectively with students and staff, fostering a supportive and positive learning environment.
4. Reliability and Resilience: Comfortable working in all weather conditions, and able to handle the physical demands of the role.
5. Driving Licence: A valid driving licence is required.
