Are you a dedicated and qualified SEND Teacher with a passion for making a difference in the lives of students with autism and additional learning needs? We are seeking an experienced professional to join a specialist team supporting young people aged 11-19 in a highly structured and integrated educational environment.
About the Role:
As a SEND Teacher, you will work collaboratively with therapists, support staff, and other educators to deliver a bespoke curriculum designed to meet the diverse needs of students with autism and communication challenges. You will play a vital role in creating a child-centered, holistic learning experience, ensuring every student receives the tailored support they need to thrive.
This role involves teaching in small class groups with a 1:3 staff-to-student ratio, promoting a Total Communication approach, and helping students develop essential skills for life and learning.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Planning and delivering individualised, highly structured lessons for students with autism and additional needs.
2. Collaborating with therapists and support staff to create a holistic learning environment.
3. Addressing students’ sensory, social, and communication needs through targeted strategies.
4. Utilising specialist facilities such as sensory rooms, horticultural areas, and forest school spaces.
5. Adapting to students’ individual learning styles and needs to ensure progress and development.
About You:
1. Qualifications: QTS (Qualified Teacher Status) or equivalent qualification in special education.
2. Experience: Proven experience working with children or young people with autism and SEND.
3. Knowledge: Strong understanding of autism, sensory processing needs, and communication strategies.
4. Skills: Excellent communication, patience, and adaptability to meet the needs of students.
5. DBS & Vetting: Enhanced DBS check and full vetting required prior to start.
