Proposals Engineer

The Proposals Engineer will be responsible for all enquiries related to Metering Systems for Natural Gas, Crude Oil & Refined Petroleum Products, including development of scope and estimating costs and technical communication with potential customers.
The successful candidate will be co-ordinating various aspects of the metering system engineering, including design, planning and development, and will be preparing cost estimates for the company’s packages. This will involve developing system designs using in-house tools and developing P&ID and GA drawings with others.
The Proposals Engineer will be responsible in the development of design, materials handling, manpower requirements, cost analysis and other areas, as appropriate. The Proposals Engineer will produce technical and commercial proposals for conceptual, budget and firm opportunities.
This will include:
1. Providing engineering support and technical solutions.
2. Review and interpretation of specifications, standards and regulations, and project specifications & requirements.
3. Obtaining quotations from suppliers and reviewing quotations and developing good working relationships with suppliers’ technical and commercial teams.
4. Obtaining technical input from internal discipline engineers to ensure our bids meet clients’ specifications and standards.
The role will mean interfacing and developing relationships with clients and their contractors during the bid development stages. Some attendance at Bid Clarification and Project Kick-off Meetings may also be required from time to time.
Essential:
· An Engineering degree such as Process/Chemical/Mechanical/Instrumentation.
· Previous experience of putting together cost estimates for mechanical and process packages.
· Excellent communication skills, including a good standard of both written and spoken English.
· Good working knowledge of Microsoft WORD and EXCEL.
Desirable:
· Oil & Gas industry experience.
· Experience of working within the Offshore market.
· Knowledge of Microsoft PROJECT would be advantageous.
· Recent graduates would ideally have had a year out in industry as part of their course.
