Position
An opportunity has arisen for a Health and Safety Adviser at Ailsa Hospital.
This post is open to applications from those who may not meet all essential criteria for the post under Annex-21 conditions .
What you will do:
You will provide operational level input to Occupational Health, Safety and Wellbeing improvement planning and to the implementation of measures to reduce risk. This will include the provision of expert advice, guidance, instruction, training and measuring performance activities on Health and Safety matters to all sectors of the organisation to ensure compliance with current and impending statutory requirements and best practice.

Knowledge, training and/or experience required to do the job:
You will have specialist knowledge of health and safety, acquired through completion of the NEBOSH Diploma in Occupational Safety and Health (or equivalent), or have sound evidence of prior experience and learning at this level. Graduate membership of the Institution of Occupational Safety and Health is required, or evidence of working towards this through the IOSH Continuous Professional Development scheme. You should hold a NEBOSH National Certificate in Construction Health and Safety or be able to demonstrate the requisite knowledge and experience in construction design and management. You should also have a general management certificate of NVQ level 3, or equivalent.
As this role will support in the implementation of ergonomic and human factors principles across all focused work programmes, Membership of the Chartered Institute of Ergonomics and Human Factors, or demonstrable evidence of experiential learning in this field is anticipated.
You should have substantive experience in the delivery of a range of health and safety services in a multi-activity organisation, ideally within the health and care sector. This will include development and implementation of health and safety management and reporting systems, training, audit and measuring performance of Occupational Health, Safety and Risk Management activities. Experience of conducting adverse event reviews, and leading on review groups is necessary.
Consideration will also be given to candidates who may not possess all the competence criteria to fully meet the post specification (under Annex 21 conditions). If successful you would receive full support and training through an in house competency programme and expected to complete this within 18 months of being in post.
You must be digital/IT literate and competent in the use of the suite of Microsoft Office packages.
