To support our growing business, Magdalene are looking to recruit an experienced Engineering Manager to manage our technical engineering resource: Project Engineers (PEs) working across a range of projects for our customer, National Grid. The Engineering Manager will create clear linkages between delivery and Design teams to ensure design is fully aligned to delivery milestones and is compliant at all times.
Who are we?
Magdalene operates as a Telecommunication Infrastructure Services Company and is part of the Telecom Division of M Group Services. Covering the full network lifecycle, we deliver Managed Services and Projects for both fixed and mobile infrastructure networks across the operator and utility markets.
What will you be doing?
Reporting into the Head of Projects, you will be responsible for the safety, quality, performance, and leadership of a team of multi-skilled project engineers, ensuring clear line of sight between delivery and design outputs that are delivered on time, in line with National Grid compliance and process. You will also provide leadership to sub-contract design and project engineering whilst ensuring compliance to CDM 2015 under Principal Contractor/Designer obligations.
What will your key responsibilities be?
1. Managing the day-to-day operations of the Project Engineers (PEs) and driving their delivery to ensure project milestones are met, while ensuring work is carried out to the correct quality, health and safety standards and within budget.
2. Working in very close cooperation with the Magdalene Senior / Project Managers to ensure the latest project priorities are understood and resource is aligned appropriately.
3. Ensuring the PEs have the right skills, equipment, and training to support the wide variety of customer projects, upskilling, mentoring, and coaching as appropriate where skills/competency gaps exist.
4. Ensuring the required levels of resource are available to meet project commitments, including recruiting or sourcing external resources if required in both design and project engineering.
5. Establishing and maintaining relationships both internally within Magdalene as well as with the customer.

2. Experience of working in either telecoms or other utility industries.
3. A good technical knowledge.

5. Experience of leading an engineering team.
6. Flexible attitude to support changing business objectives in a fast-paced environment.
7. A good appreciation of Project Management principles including project planning/scheduling and budgetary management.
