Senior Occupational Therapist - Safeguarding Jigsaw We have an exciting opportunity for a Permanent, Full Time, Senior Occupational Therapist to join Southampton City Council (SCC) in the Safeguarding Service, Jigsaw Team. (Ofsted June 2023) The opportunity has arisen to work within the 0-25 Health and Social care Jigsaw Occupational Therapy team in Southampton. The Jigsaw are under the Safeguarding Service and work as a part of a multidisciplinary service, which provides coordinated assessment, care planning and therapeutic intervention for children and young people with multiple and complex disabilities, aimed at supporting and facilitating children in their own homes. We want agile leadership at all levels to embed a positive learning culture, We are looking for a qualified, skilled and enthusiastic individual to undertake the role of Senior Occupational Therapist About the role To deliver an Occupational Therapy Service within an integrated Health and Social care team in line with Social Care statutory responsibility and, under the direction of the Team Manager/Service Manager, to assist with the provision of key service strands within Children and Families Service. Work with colleagues and partner agencies to ensure a high quality, responsive, professional Social Care service leading to positive outcomes for children and young people. To support the manager in managing statutory and non-statutory services. Provide day-to-day supervision and management oversight of staff. Deputise in the Team Manager’s absence. Key Accountabilities: Deploy resources according to the appropriate assessment of risk within the department’s priorities and statutory requirements and that the thresholds for service intervention are met. Management and regular review of the Social Care Occupational Therapy service and waiting list and to screen and prioritise Occupational Therapy referrals based on the principles of good risk management and service eligibility criteria. Assist the team manager in the supervision, development and support of staff delivering services to vulnerable children and young people. Assessing, in conjunction with other members of the team and other related professional workers, disabled children and young people’s needs in relation to personal independence, in accordance with current legislation. Recommending and providing, where appropriate, specialised equipment and giving guidance to children, young people and their carers in its use. Promoting the Occupational Therapy service to users, colleagues and other agencies and to identify and contribute to future service developments. To communicate effectively with clients and colleagues, to maintain written and electronic records in accordance with Directorate policies and to be aware of the Directorate’s ‘Access to Records’ policy. Daily supervision, support and monitoring of reports and multi-agency professionals, where appropriate. To work closely with colleagues in health care teams, private and voluntary sectors and in other Directorates, in order to achieve the best possible outcomes. To lead in the recruitment and selection of Occupational Therapy staff. To investigate Occupational Therapy service related complaints and draft formal responses for the team manager.
