We have 2 exciting positions available due to internal promotions in the Central Finance and Corporate Reporting teams.
Central Finance Reporting Team
To support in the adherence and maintenance of a robust management accounting infrastructure.
To support in the coordination of the Trust's monthly budget reporting cycle through the General Ledger, ensuring that accurate and timely budgetary control information is circulated to all budget holders in line with agreed reporting deadlines.
To contribute towards the preparation of the Monthly Management Reports.
Support any deep dive or ad-hoc analysis required to better understand the financial position and quantify changes in trends of key drivers impacting the trust position.
Support the response to information requests, often requiring detailed modelling and analysis to be completed at pace and working to tight deadlines.
Manage workload such that all deadlines are met, whilst completing work to a high standard, allowing for appropriate review and amendment by senior management before documents are disseminated outside the finance department.
To support in coordinating month end to ensure the timetable is met.
To develop relationships and work closely with financial management and other finance functions to review processes and suggest improvements.
Main duties of the job
Corporate Reporting Team
* Responsible for management accounting for specific directorates encompassing both income and expenditure reporting, with specific emphasis on expenditure.
* To assist the Directorate Finance Manager to prepare Monthly Management Reports and Board briefings to set timelines with written analysis/commentaries for the various departmental senior managers enabling them to manage their areas of the business.
* To ensure that the period end reports for the directorates are accurate, error-free, and include all accruals necessary to present an accurate picture of the financial situation of the directorate.
* To assist the Directorate Finance Manager to prepare incisive commentary on the period end reports explaining major variances to budgets/forecasts.
* Manage workload such that all deadlines are met, whilst completing work to a high standard, allowing for appropriate review and amendment by senior management before documents are disseminated outside the finance department.
* Support any deep dive or ad-hoc analysis required to better understand the financial position and quantify changes in trends of key drivers impacting the trust position.
* To assist the Directorates in preparing the annual I&E budget, ensuring that accurate and timely budgetary control information is circulated to all budget holders in line with agreed reporting deadlines.
* To undertake any other duties appropriate to the role and grade as specified by the line manager.

Education & Qualifications
* Existing qualifications at least equivalent to CCAB Certificate level.
* Studying for a Professional qualification in accountancy (CIMA, ACA, CIPFA, ACCA).
* Graduate.
* CCAB Finalist.
Experience & Knowledge
* Initial experience of management accounting or equivalent experience.
* Good working knowledge of double entry bookkeeping.
* Experience of presenting and explaining financial information in a manner that can easily be understood by non-finance managers.
* Extensive management accounting experience in similar organisations.
* Knowledge and understanding of the NHS financial environment.
* Able to communicate clearly and concisely both verbally and in writing.
* Ability to make use of systems (Excel, PowerPoint, Microsoft Word) to prepare and present accurate, clear information and to identify what can be produced from other financial systems.
* Record of delivering to tight deadlines.
* Advanced Excel skills.
* Advanced analytical skills with the ability to communicate clearly the results of such analysis.
