Job summary Clacton PCN has a fantastic opportunity for a General Practice Assistant (GPA) to join our team on a full-time basis for 37.5 hours per week over 5 days (with some Saturdays as required.) Part time is also available. As a General Practice Assistant, you'll be based in one (or at most two) of our practices, playing a critical role in supporting our GPs and ensuring a positive care experience for the local community. Main duties of the job Administrative Support Sort clinical correspondence, coordinate referrals, and book tests and follow-ups. Extract key information from letters, accurately code patient data, and update records. Help free up GP time by managing workflow and prioritising key tasks. Basic Clinical Tasks Assist with blood pressure checks, urine dipstick testing, ECGs, phlebotomy, and more. Support GPs during immunisations or wound care. Provide clear, compassionate communication to patients regarding procedures and care. Coordination & Liaison Act as a vital link between GPs, other clinicians, external agencies, and patients. Ensure seamless patient care across the network by liaising with hospital teams, social services, and community providers. Patient-Centred Care Treat every patient with respect, kindness, and confidentiality. Direct patients to the most appropriate service or support within the PCN. Level 3 Diploma in Health and Social Care or completion of a healthcare assistant course. Experience Essential Previous experience in an administrative or healthcare role (GP surgery or primary care experience is highly desirable). Knowledge of patient confidentiality, data protection, and safeguarding principles. Excellent communication and organisational skills, with a keen eye for detail.
