Legal Cashier
Location: Hastings
Hours: Full time - Office Based
Salary: £25,000 - £28,000 DOE
Our client is looking for an experienced Legal Cashier to join their highly reputable and successful law firm. Working within a progressive finance team, the ideal candidate will have previous Legal Cashier experience within a law firm.
The role involves covering all cashiering functions to ensure the smooth running of the department in compliance with the SRA Account Rules and the firm's own accounting and risk management procedures. Duties will include reconciliation of client and business bank accounts, banking of client and business receipts, and processing of client and business payments, primarily using electronic systems.
Main Duties:
1. Bank reconciliations and dealing with out-of-date cheques.
2. Monitoring the banking system for all electronic payments throughout the day (CHAPS, BACs, FPC).
3. Checking completions, setting up, and completing CHAPS transactions and other electronic payments as required following the firm's policies and procedures.
4. Checking and arranging foreign payments as requested.
5. Identifying, allocating, and posting incoming electronic and manual receipts.
6. Banking of business and client account receipts.
7. Calculating and applying client interest where due upon request.
8. Processing credit and debit card payments.
9. Dealing with any internal or external enquiries.
10. Making payments from petty cash and reconciliation of petty cash.
11. Filing and general administration duties on a daily basis.
12. Ensuring all client transactions comply with Solicitors Accounts Rules.
13. Additional duties as deemed necessary to support the smooth running of the accounts department and firm.
Required Qualifications, Skills, and Experience:
1. Legal Cashier experience (2 years) - Client Side.
2. Up-to-date knowledge of solicitor's accounts rules.
3. Educated to GCSE standard or equivalent qualification.
4. Numerate with a demonstrated accuracy in work.
5. Knowledge of Microsoft Excel and Word.
6. Excellent interpersonal skills.
7. Good telephone manner.
8. Good organisational skills.
9. Team player.
10. Knowledge of Partner for Windows.
