Graduate Payload Architect Engineer
Every year we look for university graduates from around the world to join Airbus and help fill the critical roles for our future. We need people with the aspiration, enthusiasm and the talent to help us move forward and to change the world and deliver our vision to pioneer sustainable aerospace for a safe and united world.
When you begin your career with us, we accelerate your growth through our Airbus Global Graduate development journey, focusing on both soft skills, business knowledge and technical ability. You will be part of a two year programme that enables you to develop your professional skills; build your networks and gain a unique perspective on the world of Airbus whilst delivering in a specific position - each development journey is individual!
In addition to on-the-job activity and a comprehensive schedule of training opportunities, once a year you will also join your global graduate community for a development week where you meet your peers, hear from our leaders and learn from the best.
By the end of the programme, you will have gained everything you need to become an established team member in your position, having already demonstrated your value. You will have developed your skills in an area that is strategically important for Airbus, you will know about the Airbus business, the opportunities, challenges and needs, and you will have learned more about yourself, and what makes you great!
If you are ready to join and be part of this journey please apply below (& don’t forget to include a motivation letter)!
What can you expect...
You will be on a development pathway to guide your growth into the role of Payload Architect, assigned to a telecom payload project with a strong focus on RF and payload system performance analysis and can expect to be involved in the following:
* Analysis of payload system architecture and end to end telecom systems, performing performance trade-offs at equipment level and at payload level, complete with preparation of analysis, review and compilation of written reports and presentations for our customers.
* Support the payload test campaigns and the analysis of test results, working hand-in-hand with the Assembly, Integration and Test operations team (working in clean room environment).
* Extensive use of modelling tools such as Matlab and Python for in-house developed analysis modelling, Keysight ADS, and Microsoft Office and Gsuite for presentation of technical information to the customer and customer reviews.
* Learn about cutting edge satellite and payload technology, telecommunication satellite missions, and key performance parameters and analysis, including link budget parameters such as G/T and EIRP to support the business in delivering on-going and future telecommunication satellite projects, bids, proposals, and studies.
Along the journey you will also learn to apply degree level RF and telecommunications aspects including (but not limited to) signal modulation, signal impairments in a communication system, systems engineering theory, and develop further technical understanding of communication aspects such as digital and analogue beam-forming, transparent and regenerative processing techniques.
Your development pathway will include a minimum of one rotational placement to support your growth into position. A current example being a placement within our internal equipment manufacturer in the design offices, laboratory, and a cleanroom environment, experiencing direct practical hands-on design and development, and application of theory to design, manufacturing, and test validation processes.
At the end of the two year development programme you will have developed into the position of Payload Architect!
What we are looking for...
To be a successful applicant to the Airbus Global Graduate Programme, we ask that you demonstrate you have:

* A desire to work in a collaborative team environment, focused on driving future innovation.
* The ability to be self-aware and a wish to be in the driving seat of your development.
* Experience with modelling software used for end-to-end RF communication chains, e.g. MATLAB, Simulink, ADS, SystemVue, etc.
* Proficiency with Programming languages (e.g. Python, MATLAB, Octave, Visual Basic).
* Solid theoretical background on digital communications and proven ability to apply the theory to solve practical problems, perhaps through university modules.
Specific experience, understanding or interest in the below topics would be beneficial:
* Systems Engineering, Microwave / RF Engineering or other wireless technology.
* RF equipment, equipment performances, test equipment and test techniques.
* RF Systems, Antenna Systems, Satellite Communication Systems and Software Defined Radio / Digital Signal Processing.
* RF communication signal design techniques (e.g. modulation, encoding, filtering).
Please note, we love your interest in working for Airbus but we do ask that you make only one application to the Airbus Global Graduate Programme. We encourage you to take time to decide which of our exciting opportunities is right for you and then submit an application that best represents you, your skills and experience in connection with the role you have selected.
