On a daily basis you will assist to develop, review and check on the implementation of safe systems of work, deliver training (e.g. toolbox talks & inductions), investigate incidents, analyse incident and near-miss data and present findings to the on site management team and also the Head of SHEQ.
As a Health, Safety and Environment Apprentice you will engage with all aspects of the business to support the embedding of a culture that open and honest and improves where required.
This will be achieved by working with site representative and influencing others (contractors) to see the benefit of working responsibly, understanding the legal framework and showing how safety, health and environmental management can enhance operational activities.

Learning to apply a range of Information technology and interpersonal skills in order to provide an excellent service to both internal and external customers including answering incoming calls, responding to emails and assisting with some basic administrative duties.

Gaining a good understanding of risk assessments, safe systems of work together with

Undertake site visits to construction sites to check on site safety standards.

To always work in a "safe" way ensuring compliance with legislation, regulatory requirements, best practice and continuous improvement.

Deliver SHE training, toolbox talks, inductions or presenting data or investigation findings to the workforce or management team.
Assist the management team in the development, management, implementation and monitoring of the Safety, Health and Environmental Management System by updating systems in line with changes in legislation or best practice, delivering training, coaching operational teams and undertaking workplace inspections.
Provide advice on the practical implementation of the company's SHE policies and processes applying generic industry guidance into the context of the workplace.
Undertake and/or assist with the monitoring, analysis of and reporting of SHE performance.
Assist the management team in establishing, managing and maintaining relationships with external stakeholders such as local authorities, Health and Safety Executive, Environment Agency, Occupational Health, Occupational Hygienists and others as required and directed.
Assist and/or manage the investigation of accidents, incidents, dangerous occurrences, near misses and other incidents as directed.
Additional information / requirements -
The apprentice will be required to travel to different sites as and when required
As the role involves travel to different sites, you should hold a full clean UK driving license & be a car owner
You will be required to add business use to your personal insurance policy (any associated costs would need to be met by the apprentice)
