Lancashire & South Cumbria NHS Foundation Trust
Principal Clinical Psychologist - Adult Learning Disability Service
Fixed-term contract 12 months, 22.5 hours per week.
We are looking for an innovative and enthusiastic clinical psychologist to work within a busy and well-respected Community Learning Disability Team. This part-time post is based in the Chorley & South Ribble team; however, the post holder will be expected to work across the Central Locality, covering Greater Preston, Chorley & South Ribble, and West Lancashire (Ormskirk base). Previous experience of working with adults with Learning Disabilities is essential. However, we would welcome any applicant who may find themselves hesitant in applying or wish to discuss their experience to please contact us for an informal chat.
This is an exciting time for our service, which has experienced considerable investment during the past years, and we have expanded by circa 25%. Developments include the formation of a dedicated LD Intensive Support Team that works alongside all our community teams and enhancement of multi-disciplinary teams in all areas. We are also currently developing an inpatient facility for adults with learning disabilities that require mental health treatment.
Main Duties of the Job
LSCFT provides the majority of NHS commissioned community services for people with Learning Disabilities, Autism, or both across the Lancashire and South Cumbria Integrated Care System (ICS). The Learning Disability service employs almost 200 multi-disciplinary staff and has 16 teams across the ICS.
In the Central locality, you will make a major contribution to the service and take a clinical lead role within the Chorley & South Ribble team. You will be expected to provide psychological assessment and intervention in a variety of settings and provide consultation, training, and supervision to the wider MDT on the psychological care of adults with a Learning Disability. As an 8b, you will also have the opportunity to participate in clinical leadership and service development activities. There may also be opportunities for service-related research and development.
You will receive regular clinical & professional supervision from a Consultant Clinical Psychologist and you will also benefit from being a member of the Learning Disability Psychology Specialty as well as the wider Psychological Professions Community within the Trust.
The Trust has close links with the Lancaster University Doctorate in Clinical Psychology and provides placements for trainees from Lancaster, Manchester, and Liverpool. There is an expectation that you would be in a position to supervise a Trainee if approached.
