We are currently recruiting a support worker to work with Elaine, a lady living in the Wishaw area of North Lanarkshire. This is an exciting opportunity for a support worker with at least 2 years experience who is looking to develop their already existing support skills and to be involved in supporting Elaine in all aspects of daily living. A DRIVER WITH FULL, CLEAN CURRENT DRIVING LICENSE IS ESSENTIAL FOR THIS POST "I am Elaine and I am 61 years old. I am super friendly, joyful, helpful and have a great love for life. I have also been told I am a great dancer I have a close relationship with my family, who visit regularly, and I really enjoy spending time with them. Often going out for a nice local lunch. I live with a learning disability and I am bubbly, chatty person who brings positivity and warmth wherever I go. I love to go out and about every day, I have clubs and activities that I go to regularly, but my favourite is on a Saturday night, where I can have a good sing song and a boogie as I love to dance. Music is a big part of my life; I enjoy listening to music and dancing around my home with my staff. I play the drums and have music lessons. I also really enjoy musicals, my personal favourites are Mama Mia, Annie and Grease I receive support to help me with all aspects of daily living and to keep me safe. I have staff with me throughout the day and night and I find this extremely reassuring. I like to help where I can but need your support to run my house, shop and prepare meals. You must have a min of 2 years support work. WORKING PATTERN SHIFTS ARE 13HOURS, FOLLOWED BY A SLEEPOVER - ON A 4 WEEK ROTA Wk 1 - Friday, plus sleepover WK 2 - Wednesday, plus sleepover Wk3 - Sat & Sun, plus sleepovers Wk 4 - OFF What I am looking for Someone who is patient. Someone who is positive. Someone who is calm and bring re-assurance. Someone who has a strong personality and likes to talk but not overwhelming Someone who can watch their words as I can take statements literally Someone who is a good listener, both verbally and reading body language. Shifts are from 9am - 10 OR 11pm FOLLOWED BY A SLEEPOVER, this will involve a weekend rota. There will be the opportunity to do overtime during team holiday times. Main Tasks To provide person centred care and support to the people Support for Ordinary Living wor k for in line with the mission, vision and values of the organisation the support worker role will: Support an individual to live in their own home/ family home and help the individual live the lifestyle they choose. Assist with personal care for example bathing where applicable. Encourage and support people to make life choices. Support individual to safeguard their property/ health & wellbeing/ finances and tak e appropriate action, when necessary, e.g., call NHS 24 or Doctor in case of emergency. Support people to become a valued member of their local community and support an d encourage them to maintain and develop relationships with their friends, their family and their neighbours. Encourage and support people to get involved in social activities. Assist people with domestic tasks such as housework, shopping cooking and cleaning. Treat people with dignity and respect at all times and recognise their rights to make their own choices. Support the individual to meet their outcomes in line with their Outcome based support plan and plan for the future. To work as part as a Self-Directed team, working in a consistent and flexible manne r to support the individual to meet the outcomes outlined in the outcome-based support plan. Adhere to SOL’s policies and procedures to attend all planned meetings / training as requested. Be an ambassador to SOL, safeguarding the positive image and reputation o f the organisation.
