The post holder will be part of the Operations Team responsible for the operational requirements concerning the Trust's Computer systems. These requirements include the administration of computer hardware and software in support of the delivery of an agreed IT service. Responsibility includes incident handling, availability and performance monitoring, routine start up and shut down, Domain Administration such as creation of user and email accounts, group membership and secure backup and restore routines.
Ideally, we are looking for someone with recent IT operational experience within WWL.
Account administration duties include the creation of Trust network user accounts and E-Mail accounts, including security permissions, access rights, testing, and maintenance of such accounts.
The post holder works with others, including user representatives, managers, and system suppliers to plan, schedule, and supervise operational procedures to systems/services.
Responsibilities include:
1. Carrying out the full range of defined tasks associated with operating and controlling the installed hardware and software.
2. Installing Windows-based backup solutions to various systems as required, as well as configuring the software solution and initial testing of restore procedures.
3. Responding to enquiries by users, specialists, or suppliers and dealing effectively with a broad range of problems of moderate complexity.
4. Identifying types of media when required and managing the movement of media from storage locations.
5. Ensuring that all appropriate systems/services are backed up to an agreed schedule with management and that documentation for all backup and restore procedures is fully up to date.
6. Carries out required monitoring, logging, and reporting tasks, acting on known or moderately complex problems and advising supervisors or other IT specialists when management or specialist attention is required.
7. Accepting data, media, consumables, and other items required for the processing of work and taking responsibility for the movement, storage, and dispatch of such items.
8. System administration of file server as directed by senior members of the section.
Please note that senior positions (AFC band 8A or above) may be expected to participate in an on-call rota, if the role is predominantly operational.
Good knowledge of MS Teams is required.
