Senior Structural Engineer
Location: City of Bristol
Role: Permanent, Monday-Friday, Hybrid
Salary: Competitive rates depending on experience
We are looking for a Structural Engineer to join our client in their Bristol office. Ideally, the candidate will have around 4-6 years relevant experience within a similar UK consultancy, and due to the demands of the role, any candidate should possess a minimum of 3 years post-graduate experience.
This is an outstanding opportunity to work with this ambitious multi-disciplinary consultancy at Senior Engineer Level. Working on diverse and exciting projects within commercial, retail, leisure, rail, and residential developments, including high-rise and prestigious landmark buildings. Around 50% of this role will be site-based, so candidates should be comfortable and willing to work on site, completing site surveys etc.
Main Duties:
1. Preparation and checking of structural engineering designs and drawings, specifications, reports, and general correspondence.
2. Liaise & communicate with external professionals and clients.
3. Represent the client at meetings and in writing, when required, and attend site to undertake surveys and inspections.
4. Control the programmed performance of projects.
5. Brief and supervise Graduate Engineers.
6. Brief and supervise Technicians on the production of drawings.
7. Preparation of structural reports on buildings and other structures.
Candidate Experience Required:
1. Have experience of working on a variety of projects.
2. Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
3. Experience of contract negotiation.
4. A commercial understanding of fee management.
5. Ensure client satisfaction at all stages of the design process.
6. Assist with new business opportunities as well as maintaining existing client base.
7. Contribute to Group activities.
8. As well as a good team player, you will also need to have enthusiasm, drive, and determination to meet the demands of a position at this level.

10. Ability to demonstrate proven ability to communicate fluently in English and produce concise, grammatically correct reports.
Technical Skills:
1. Ability to design structural members in structural steel, reinforced concrete, masonry, and timber.
2. Clear understanding of UK Building Regulations and codes of practice.
3. Familiarity with proprietary design software such as Tekla Structural Designer, S-Frame, TEDDS, SCIA, and CADS.
4. Knowledge of the Site Investigation process.
5. Use of Microsoft Office and other administration software.
