Job Title: Department Lead – Electrical Sector Location: Farnworth, Manchester (Regional Business) Salary: £75,000 per annum Job Type: Full-Time About the Company A well-established electrical services provider, specialising in commercial and residential projects, is looking for a dynamic and experienced department lead – electrical to join their growing team. Role Overview Reporting directly to the directors, you will oversee the electrical department’s operations, lead a team of skilled electricians and supply chain partners, and ensure projects meet statutory and regulatory standards. This role requires strong leadership, technical expertise, and commercial awareness. Key Responsibilities Manage the day-to-day operations of the electrical department. Oversee electrical projects from planning to completion. Work with the estimating team to assess project feasibility and pricing. Organise employees and supply chain partners for nationwide project delivery. Collaborate with the commercial team on cost value reconciliation (CVR) forecasts. Support tender pricing for departmental projects. Ensure compliance with safety regulations, legislation, and company policies. Manage budgets, resources, and schedules for project profitability. Provide technical guidance and mentorship to team members. Maintain strong relationships with clients, contractors, and stakeholders. Track project progress and implement improvements as needed. Stay updated on industry advancements, regulations, and best practices. Oversee departmental strategy and align operations with business targets. Manage supplier relationships to maintain high business standards. Requirements Leadership or managerial experience in the electrical industry. Background in electrical engineering, MEP contracting, or related fields. Strong commercial awareness and experience managing budgets/programmes. In-depth knowledge of electrical codes, safety regulations, and best practices. Excellent leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills. Ability to manage multiple nationwide projects and deadlines. Relevant qualifications (e.g., electrical engineering degree, master electrician certification). Experience ensuring compliance with industry bodies (IEE, NICEIC, JCT, NEC). Familiarity with project management tools is advantageous. Strong skills in change management and dispute resolution.
