We're recruiting on behalf of our well-established client based in Lincoln. They're looking for a driven, ambitious and proactive National Account Manager.
Reports To: Head of Sales - UK
Location: Lincoln / Hybrid
Role Purpose:
The National Account Manager (NAM) will be responsible for managing and developing existing customer relationships within the Symbol, Forecourt, and Wholesale channels, while actively seeking out and securing new business opportunities. This dual responsibility requires a strategic, customer-focused approach to drive revenue growth, ensure operational excellence, and contribute to the overall success of the business.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Customer Account Management:
* Develop and maintain strong, effective relationships with key accounts across the Convenience, Forecourt, and Wholesale sectors.
* Act as the primary point of contact for customers, ensuring their needs are met while aligning with business objectives.
* Deliver exceptional customer service and account management to retain and grow existing accounts.
* Conduct regular business reviews, providing insights and recommendations to optimise performance.
1. Business Development:
* Identify, prospect, and secure new business opportunities within target channels to achieve growth objectives.
* Prepare and deliver tailored proposals and presentations to potential customers.
* Negotiate contracts, pricing structures, and promotional agreements to maximise profitability and customer value.
2. Strategic Planning & Execution:
* Develop and implement account strategies to achieve sales targets, category growth, and market share objectives.
* Collaborate with internal teams (e.g., marketing, supply chain, finance) to ensure seamless execution of customer plans.
* Utilize market data, sales analytics, and consumer trends to inform strategies and decision-making.
3. Operational Excellence:
* Monitor and analyse account performance, ensuring alignment with agreed KPIs and targets.
* Ensure accurate and timely forecasting of sales volumes, promotional activity, and stock requirements.
* Manage the end-to-end process of launching new products or initiatives within accounts.
4. Collaboration & Communication:
* Act as a key liaison between customers and internal stakeholders to ensure clear communication and alignment.
* Provide regular updates to senior management on account performance, challenges, and opportunities.
* Attend industry events, trade shows, and customer meetings to represent the business and build networks.
Skills & Competencies:
* Strong relationship management and negotiation skills, with the ability to influence key stakeholders.
* Commercially astute with a solid understanding of P&L management and margin optimisation.
* Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with experience in using sales and market data.
* Highly motivated, results-oriented, and able to work independently as well as collaboratively.
* Exceptional communication and presentation skills.
* Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, PowerPoint, Word) and CRM tools.
Experience & Qualifications:
* Proven experience in a National Account Manager or similar role within FMCG, ideally within the Convenience, Forecourt, or Wholesale channels.
* Demonstrated track record of successfully managing key accounts and achieving growth targets.
* Experience in business development and winning new customers.
* Understanding of the unique dynamics and challenges of the Convenience and Wholesale sectors.
* Full UK driving license and willingness to travel as required.
