The Opportunity:
Reporting to the UK HSEQ Manager, the Manufacturing QC Inspector plays a critical role in ensuring that products meet established quality standards and specifications. This position involves inspecting, testing, and verifying products at various stages of the manufacturing process to identify defects and deviations from quality requirements.
The QC Inspector collaborates closely with the Project Team to maintain product quality and uphold MMA’s commitment to delivering high-quality products to customers.
Key Responsibilities:
Product Inspection & Testing
1. Conduct visual and dimensional inspections of products at different stages of production to identify defects, non-conformities, or deviations from quality standards.
2. Perform functional and performance tests on products to verify their compliance with specifications.
3. Record inspection results accurately and maintain detailed inspection records.
4. Co-ordinate and advise guidance on material certification, welding, NDT and other quality requirements.
Quality Assurance Compliance
1. Ensure that products adhere to established quality control standards, work instructions, and quality assurance procedures.
2. Report any quality issues, non-conformities, or deviations to the HSEQ Manager for further investigation and resolution.
3. Assist in managing non-conformances, including RCA and CAPA.
4. Undertake internal audits as part of an audit team.
5. Ensure quality performance monitoring is maintained and reviewed accordingly against KPIs.
Documentation & Reporting
1. Prepare inspection reports detailing findings and outcomes of inspections and tests.
2. Document and report any discrepancies, defects, or quality-related issues promptly and accurately.
3. Assist in maintaining quality control records and documentation in line with MMA’s Information Business Management System.
Collaboration
1. Work closely with Project Teams & HSEQ Manager to address quality concerns and provide real-time feedback to prevent defects and non-conformities.
2. Collaborate with colleagues in Quality Assurance to develop and implement process improvements that enhance product quality.
3. Support existing, strong workshop HSE Culture and support the inhouse safety program Target 365.
Continuous Improvement
1. Identify opportunities for process improvements and participate in initiatives aimed at enhancing overall product quality.
2. Offer suggestions for enhancing inspection methods and procedures.
Essential Experience:
* Minimum 10 years inspection experience in a steel fabrication facility.
* Inspection experience in Subsea Industry.
* CSWIP 3.1 Certified.
* Good understanding of weld procedures.
* Knowledge of quality control principles, inspection techniques, and quality assurance procedures is advantageous.
* Willingness to work in a dynamic manufacturing environment with a commitment to product quality and safety.
* Computer literate, especially with Microsoft packages.
* A background of proactive inspection in a subsea fabrication/assembly environment.
* Excellent interpretation of complex engineering drawings.
* Comfortable working in various manufacturing settings, including factory floors and production areas.
* Good knowledge of weld procedures and NDT.
* Ability to conduct dimensional checks and reports.
* Knowledge of ISO 9001:2015.
* Ability to build confidence and rapport with clients.
* Concrete fabrication in the subsea/offshore wind/renewables industry beneficial.
