Job summary Croydon Health Services Trust provides a broad range of elective and emergency services to a population of almost 400,000 across the borough of Croydon and delivered across Croydon University Hospital (450-bed inpatient) and Purley War Memorial Hospital (outpatient). The department wishes to appoint a fixed term trust grade Senior House Officer in General Surgeryand Urology for a provisional 6-month fixed term, which can be extended up to a maximum of 2 years.This post is intended to provide both service and surgical training alongside formal postgraduate SHOtrainees within the department. Educational supervision will be offered and postholders will beencouraged to pursue the Certificate of Readiness to Enter Specialty Training (CREST) in order tosupport application for Higher Surgical Training. Postholders will be expected to engage indepartmental education, research and governance activities. Allocation to surgical subspecialty firmwill be confirmed after interview and dependant on current vacancies and departmental needs.Postholders are intended to rotate through different surgical subspecialties - Colorectal, Upper GI,Urology and Vascular. Main duties of the job The postholder will participate in a resident full shift pattern 1-in-12 on-call rota covering both GeneralSurgery and Urology, including 12-hour day and night shifts. In addition, the postholder will contributeto a 1-in-12 "Hot Clinic" providing care for ambulatory surgical patients.
