Deputy Sister/Charge Nurse - Lulworth Ward

Lulworth ward is a general surgical ward with a friendly and professional team that will provide an ideal environment for applicants to develop their skills, knowledge and competency in the challenging demands of caring for the acute surgical patient.
We have on ward support from a Clinical Practice Educator who works closely with the relevant Specialist Nurses. This is a clinical post and you will be expected to lead the shift as the Nurse in charge and manage your own caseload of staff from a HR perspective. A full induction programme will be provided and there will be ongoing education and support.
Main duties of the job
Lulworth ward is a 31 bedded ward where you will need to be able to care for patients before and after surgery and be involved in all aspects of care from admission to discharge. You will need to be able to adapt to the changing workload whilst delivering compassionate, safe high quality care. The successful applicant will be joining a positive, friendly and supportive team focused on goals driven by patient experience and evidence based best practice.

Person Specification
Education, Qualifications and Training.
* Registered Nurse
* Evidence of CPD
* Recognised teaching and assessing qualification
Knowledge and Experience
* Extensive relevant experience in Surgical Nursing
* Experience of multidisciplinary team leadership
* Involvement in staff development / training with evidence of pro- active teaching assessing
Skills and Abilities
* Evidence of ability to practice as a current, competent & proficient practitioner.
* Demonstrates awareness of necessity to maintain service with due regard to financial constraints.
* Demonstrates evidence of an ability to manage time effectively in a flexible and adaptable manner.
* Understanding of clinical governance and ability to assist in establishing systems to support this process.
* Demonstrates ability to work under pressure and utilise problem solving skills to deal with unpredictable service requirements.
* Demonstrates evidence of an area of special interest and maintains innovate/proactive attitude to practice development, with due regard to process of change.
