A vacancy has arisen in the Blood Sciences Department at University Hospitals of Morecambe Bay NHS Foundation Trust for an HCPC registered, Specialist Biomedical Scientist based in the Haematology and Transfusion laboratory on our Royal Lancaster Infirmary site in Lancaster.
You will be working as part of a dedicated team providing a 24/7 service to the local population. The department is committed to continuous development and quality improvement and the successful candidate must be equally committed to these principles.
The post currently attracts a recruitment and retention premium, in line with the NHS agenda for change payment schedule, in addition to standard enhancements for out of hours working.
There will be opportunities available for further developing your skills in all aspects of Haematology and Transfusion Science.
Applications will not be considered from candidates not registered as Biomedical Scientists with the HCPC.
This is an interesting and challenging position within a busy Blood Science laboratory. The Blood Science laboratories across the Trust work closely together to provide an efficient, high quality service utilising common analytical platforms and IT systems provided through a managed service contract with Beckman Coulter UK.
We operate from three main hospitals - Furness General Hospital (FGH) in Barrow, the Royal Lancaster Infirmary (RLI), and Westmorland General Hospital (WGH) in Kendal, as well as a number of community health care premises including Millom Hospital and GP Practice, Queen Victoria Hospital in Morecambe, and Ulverston Community Health Centre.
FGH and the RLI have a range of General Hospital services, with full Emergency Departments, Critical/Coronary Care units and various Consultant-led services.
WGH provides a range of General Hospital services, together with an Urgent Treatment Centre, that can help with a range of non-life threatening conditions such as broken bones and minor illnesses.
All three main hospitals provide a range of planned care including outpatients, diagnostics, therapies, day case and inpatient surgery. In addition, a range of local outreach services and diagnostics are provided from community facilities across Morecambe Bay.
