Job summary The Maidstone Renal Satellite Unit is a nurse led 24 station satellite unit; our main unit is based in Canterbury. There are 5 satellite units based in East and West Kent. A new and exciting opportunity has arisen for a Band 5 Nurse to join our team at the Maidstone Renal Satellite Unit as we are expanding our twilight dialysis provision At Maidstone Renal Unit, we look after a variety of patients from many different background and work closely with them to provide the best care to help them cope with their chronic condition. We are open Monday to Saturday: 07.00-19.00 and also on a Monday, Wednesday and Friday till 23:00 for twilight shift. Part of the role is to cover an on-call dialysis service every month. If you are an experienced Band 5 Nurse, who is motivated and enthusiastic, then come and join our friendly team of Nurses and become part of the Kent Kidney Care Centre based at the Maidstone unit. If you are looking to expand your skills and learn how to deliver hemodialysis to both inpatients and outpatients, then this is the role for you. It would be an asset to have Renal experience, but this is not essential as training can be given, if you are willing to learn. Main duties of the job We are looking for an individual who is eager to learn, has a kind and caring attitude towards patients and colleagues and can be a positive team member. Within this role you will be looking after patients who have a chronic condition who attend the unit three times a week We will provide the in-house training you require to safely carry out your role in dialysis which includes specific dialysis training and further development opportunities within your role. The main duties of this role include providing haemodialysis care to renal patients on a daily basis including fluid management, recording observations, daily weights intravenous medication, pressure sore prevention, vascular access care and diabetes management.
