Our client is a highly successful and well-established company that is going from strength to strength. They are looking for an experienced individual to join them as the Head of Engineering.

1. Minimum degree level in Engineering or equivalent experience (7+ years).
2. A strong industry knowledge and background in air handling units/process air conditioning or Acoustics is essential.
3. Experience of product development/improvement.
4. Experience of working within a fast-moving, Sales-driven environment.
Salary: £55,000 - £65,000 dependent on skills and experience.
Hours of work: 38.25 hours per week (45 min lunch break each day), Monday to Thursday: 8:30 - 17:00, Friday: 8:30 - 16:30.
This role is fully based on site; however, once fully established in your position, there may be an option to work from home one day a week.
As the Head of Engineering, you will:
1. Manage, lead, and work with the engineering and technical aspects of the business.
2. Support the strategic objectives of the company to design and manage market leading air management and acoustic solutions.
3. Assess the technical requirements of the business and manage the design and sales support functions.
4. Focus on the technical development of award-winning solutions for the air management and acoustic markets, ensuring the latest proven technology is being integrated.
5. Provide an interface between the technical and sales/commercial teams.
Duties and responsibilities:
1. Act as the technical lead for the company for solutions and product-based sales.
2. Lead the engineering team in day-to-day tasks (business as usual).
3. Drive process management efficiencies and improvements.
4. Ensure that all technical and estimating documentation is consistent, relevant, and reliable.
5. Manage technical compliance within the company.
6. Co-ordinate the daily workload of the design team and multiproduct enquiries.
7. Manage the interface with the estimating team and engineering/technical.
8. Develop and improve handover procedures to post order engineering teams.
9. Provide technical advice to assist with projects and products, including (but not limited to) functionality, performance, efficiency, lifespan, quality, and cost.
10. Provide technical support to the pre-sales team, including site visits.
11. Mentor, develop, and manage the design team with an emphasis on personal development, positivity, and employee engagement.
12. Oversee the day-to-day work completed by the team including specifications, designs, and BOMs.
13. Represent the team providing updates in project progress, new technologies, new product development in addition to technical and risk management implications.
14. Encourage and support the company’s continuous improvement ethos by carrying out technical design reviews, testing regimes, and analysis of new and existing products to improve efficiency and quality.
15. Investigate potential product development opportunities and lead the prototyping and testing of new products.
16. Keep up to date with new technology, current and forthcoming legislative obligations, and provide a clear roadmap for new opportunities for the company.
17. Promote and co-ordinate technical knowledge within the company, including technical knowledge sharing and harvesting.
18. Present to other teams and provide updates on new products to increase the knowledge base of peers, including external CPDs.
19. Provide technical training to individuals and teams.
20. Improve, work to, and oversee the ISO9001 design technical process.
21. Any other ad hoc duties that may be required from time to time for the smooth running of the business.
This role would suit someone with a background in HVAC with previous job titles such as Engineering Manager, Engineering Supervisor, Engineering Team Leader, Lead Engineer, Senior Engineer, Senior Product Development Manager, Engineering Head, Engineering Lead, Director of Engineering, Head of Project Engineering, or similar.
