The WTWA Estates Team provides a wide range of estate and property management services across Wythenshawe Hospital, Trafford Hospital, Withington Community Hospital, and Altrincham Hospital (WTWA). The Team has an exciting opportunity for an Estates Manager to manage the delivery of Hard FM services across the estate.
Main duties of the job
The WTWA Estates Manager will be responsible for ensuring that all buildings, plant & infrastructure are maintained safely and cost-effectively within agreed statutory requirements, in accordance with NHS and the Trust’s policies and procedures.
The successful candidate will manage and monitor programmes of Planned and Reactive Maintenance, PFI Service Delivery, and Compliance activity in accordance with Health & Safety legislation, current industry standards, and guidelines. The work programmes are delivered by the WTWA 'in-house' Operational Team, the PFI service provider, and the Trust’s Energy & Sustainability team to ensure efficient service delivery, use of energy, power, and utilities services.
The successful candidate would enjoy working in a multi-disciplinary team environment with diverse healthcare professionals, as well as managing maintenance works, staff, and contractors in a hospital environment. As part of this role, you and the team will provide different estates maintenance and compliance services each day to various service users across WTWA. Person specification
* Degree level Qualification in electrical or mechanical engineering
* Significant Estates Management and the Management of Health and Safety experience.
* Experience of working in a multi-disciplined estates maintenance and construction environment.
* Experience in the management of building and maintenance contracts.
* Able to recognise the need to escalate issues outside the remit of the role.
* Ability to fully understand and interpret contracts
* Contract management and control experience
* Contract and performance management skills including managing third-party service providers.
* Understanding of acute hospitals and healthcare environment
* Knowledge of legislative requirements as they relate to Hard FM Services and issues within the NHS Trust estate
* Experience in the processes involved in design and construction.
* Ability to compile concise and accurate management reports for immediate and senior management.
* Masters or equivalent (Chartered) qualification in electrical or mechanical engineering.
* Timed served apprenticeship in building services or construction discipline
* Experience in working in liaison with other Soft FM and Clinical Services.
* An understanding of contract law in building maintenance and construction.
