Principal/Associate Sustainability and Building Physics Consultant/Engineer

We are seeking talented sustainability consultants and engineers at all levels to join the team at our Head Office in Newcastle. You will work on projects that are transforming the Northeast region as well as working on some of the most progressive sustainability projects nationally and internationally. We want to empower everyone to grow and lead the transformation, to ensure we are at the heart of the built environment’s response to the climate and ecological emergencies.
You will have the opportunity to engage and collaborate with organisations like the World and UK Green Building Councils and the World Health Organisation among many others. You will work with governments around the world to support the development of new green policies and standards and deliver projects of all scales. The Role
We are seeking applicants with skills in one or more of the four main service areas below to lead and grow our offer:
* Building physics, environmental modelling and analysis, AI and parametric modelling.
* Compliance, certification (BREEAM, LEED, NABERS) and building regulations.
* Design for performance, predictive energy modelling and operational energy assessments.
* Whole life carbon, circular economy, policy and strategy.
The main objective of the role will be to work with our Head of Sustainability to establish our Sustainability & Building Physics capability in Newcastle. You will be supported both by our teams in London, Birmingham and Edinburgh who are all leaders in the field. There will be a strong emphasis on business development and industry leadership, and you will be required to quickly assimilate the innovative services we have developed so that you can use these to promote our services and wider Cundall capacity in local and global markets.
Working closely with colleagues of various disciplines, you will design, analyse, report and document Sustainability & Building Physics projects as well as present to clients. You will work across a variety of sectors and will have the opportunity over time to assume greater levels of responsibility and autonomy as we support the development of your professional skills.
You will be responsible for client management and project delivery for our key work streams.
The Skills
Educated to Masters level (or equivalent) in Engineering or the Built Environment, you will have gained relevant practical experience in a similar role, and ideally will have achieved or be working towards chartership status.
You will have demonstrable knowledge and experience in one or more of the service areas outlined in the role description.
Knowledge of dynamic simulation software, mechanical design, UK Building Regulations, Planning issues, climate-based daylighting analysis, operational energy calculation and life cycle carbon costing is highly desirable.
An understanding of financial and resource management is critical.
Given the collaborative and client-focused nature of this role, excellent communication skills and experience of using your initiative to overcome challenges are essential.
