Role Description
We are seeking an ambitious Data Analyst with strong analytical and technical skills to support our data-driven consulting practice. You will be responsible for acquiring, processing, analysing, and visualising open-source and client data to generate insights that drive business and operational improvements. Working closely with consultants and client data teams, you will play a crucial role in shaping strategies for clients across the public and private sectors.
Responsibilities
* Acquire and process data from various sources, including public datasets (e.g., NHS, Social Care, Public Health, Higher Education, demographic sources) and proprietary client systems.
* Maintain and update datasets to ensure accuracy, completeness, and consistency for reporting and analysis.
* Conduct exploratory data analysis (EDA) to uncover trends, patterns, and anomalies in large datasets.
* Develop dashboards and reports using Power BI, Tableau, and Excel to communicate key insights and recommendations to stakeholders.
* Use Python and SQL to clean, transform, and analyse data, ensuring it is structured effectively for analysis.
* Help shape how the business acquires and stores data efficiently, working with databases and backend systems as needed.
* Assist in developing and maintaining data pipelines to automate data collection, transformation, and reporting processes.
* Support predictive modelling and machine learning initiatives by preparing datasets and conducting preliminary analysis.
* Ensure data quality, governance, and compliance with relevant security and privacy regulations.
* Present findings and insights to consultants and clients, translating complex data into actionable intelligence.
Skills and Qualifications
* A strong degree (2:1 or above) in a relevant field such as Data Science, Statistics, Mathematics, Computer Science, or a related discipline.
* Proficiency in Excel for data manipulation, analysis, and reporting.
* Experience with Python (Pandas, NumPy, Matplotlib, Seaborn) and SQL for data processing and analysis.
* Familiarity with Power BI and/or Tableau for creating interactive dashboards and reports.
* An understanding of database structures, data acquisition, and data processing techniques.
* Knowledge of ETL (Extract, Transform, Load) processes and data pipeline tools.
* Familiarity with machine learning concepts and applications.
* Experience working with APIs, JSON, and web scraping to acquire data.
* Understanding of cloud-based data solutions (e.g., Microsoft Azure, AWS, or Google Cloud).
* Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
* The ability to communicate complex information clearly and concisely to non-technical audiences.
* A proactive, inquisitive mindset with a passion for working with data to drive business improvements.
* The ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a team.
