What you will do in your working day
· To deliver a high standard of learning, development and care for children aged 2-5 years.
· To ensure that the classroom is a safe environment for children, staff and others.
· Create and maintain a purposeful, orderly and supportive environment, in accordance with lesson plans and ensure children’s work and achievements are displayed. Resources are looked after and displayed in an appropriate way.
· To provide a safe, caring, stimulating educational environment, both indoors and outdoors, at all times.
· Maintain an engaging environment, both indoors and outdoors. That changes with topic and needs.
· To plan engaging and well-pitched daily lessons and inputs in accordance with the early years curriculum.
· Plan support, themselves and the apprentice, so that it is used efficiently to support the children.
· To support developing partnerships with parents/carers to increase involvement in their child’s development.
· To plan inclusive lessons / activities that provide particular support for pupils, including those with special needs, ensuring their safety and access to learning activities.
· Be aware of and support difference and ensure all pupils have equal access to opportunities to learn and develop.
· Monitor pupils’ responses to learning activities and accurately record achievement/progress, problems etc.
· To record observations and progress on the necessary documentation.
· Establish constructive relationships with pupils and interact with them according to individual needs.
· Promote the inclusion and acceptance of all pupils.
· Promote good pupil behaviour, dealing promptly with conflict and incidents in line with established policy and encourage pupils to take responsibility for their own behaviour.
· Set challenging and demanding expectations and promote self-esteem and independence.
· Provide feedback to pupils / parents in relation to progress and achievement.
· Support with self-care skills e.g. Changing when necessary, supporting toilet training.
· Be aware of and comply with policies and procedures relating to child protection, health, safety and security, confidentiality and data protection, reporting all concerns to an appropriate person.
· Contribute to the overall ethos/work/aims of the school.
· Appreciate and support the role of other professionals.
· Attend and participate in relevant meetings as required.
