Our expert Commercial Litigation and Civil Fraud lawyers specialise in fraud (civil and criminal); commercial disputes; international corporate investigations; and cross-border issues (including extradition and mutual legal assistance). Role overview We seek an experienced and enthusiastic Paralegal to work on various cases across the Business Crime and Civil Fraud Departments. Matters involve volumes of documentation and competing tasks so the individual must be highly organised, conscientious and confident in coping with challenging deadlines. The ideal candidate will have experience of complex and detailed document management, document review platforms and disclosure exercises. Typical duties are likely to include: Managing large quantities of documents (both historical documents and incoming new material); Maintaining spreadsheets; Using a digital document review platform; Reviewing and analysing case materials; Producing case material summaries; Attending and taking notes at client meetings, court or during conference calls; Drafting memos and correspondence; Producing hard copy bundles; Liaising with Counsel; Legal research; and General administration, as required. Required skills and qualities The successful candidate will possess the following skills and qualities: A very strong academic background, including a law degree or SQE, GDL, LPC or BPTC; At least 12 months previous contentious/criminal paralegal experience (ideally in the context of litigation); Familiarity with eDisclosure platforms (such as Relativity); A keen interest in criminal law and a strong work ethic; Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, together with a high standard of written and spoken English; Strong IT skills including a good working knowledge of all the Microsoft Office programmes including Excel; Experience of using legal databases such as Lexis Nexis, Westlaw and Practical Law; The ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team; Excellent organisational skills and the ability to prioritise a constantly changing workload; Strong attention to detail; A proactive and positive approach to work.
