Are you a front line Social Worker or Manager in either Children and Young People Services (CYP) or Adult Social Care (ASC) directorates? Are you passionate about making a positive difference in the lives of children and young people, and vulnerable adults in Suffolk out of hours? The Emergency Duty Service (EDS) provides a service to all customer groups and is managed jointly by both ASC and CYP services directorates. The team responds to social care emergencies which cannot reasonably wait until the next working day. It provides a response to both children and families, working age and older adults who would ordinarily require a service from either the ASC or CYP Directorates. We are looking for 2 CYP or ASC Social Workers who are currently working in Expert/Consultant Social Worker, Senior Social Worker or above posts to join the EDS rota. You will need to live in or very near to the rota area. You will need to have a competent knowledge of CYP and ASC safeguarding processes and issues, policies and procedures relating to these two directorates. Shadowing can be arranged as well as training to ensure that you are up to date or address any gaps. Your role and responsibilities be on call for the duration of your shift and are required to respond promptly to any calls that the EDS call co-ordinators may pass to you have access to EHM/LCS and LAS so that you can research information on your laptop to enable you to provide intervention that would support work that our daytime colleagues are undertaking or put in an appropriate stop-gap until day services could follow up need to build good working relationships with out-of-hours partner agencies cover approximately 4 shifts a month, 2 shifts at the weekend and 2 during the week, for which you will be paid a set session fee any mileage incurred following any calls taken you are expected to provide professional case notes to support your intervention, which the call co-ordinators will add to Liquid Logic. There will be a small team of support available from EDS Call Coordinators and EDS Operations Managers and other Social Work and AMHP colleagues during your shift. You will need to be confident at working autonomously, being creative, resourceful, organised, supportive and assertive as we work from home covering shifts overnight and at the weekend when there is a smaller network of staff around you to have or build good working relationships with our Internal partners and external agencies, in particular the Police, FOOHAS and care sector to be technically proficient with a good understanding of EHM/LCS and LAS. availability to attend quarterly rota meetings during the day and undertake mandatory training.
