Job Title: Asbestos Laboratory Analyst.
Location: Newport, South Wales.
Salary / Benefits: £25k - £30k + Training + Benefits
An industry leading and professional provider of various Asbestos Management Services in the South Wales region is seeking to take on a hardworking and experienced Asbestos Laboratory Analyst. This role would suit a candidate who is looking to join a rapidly growing company where you will be working with their longstanding team of Analysts in a busy laboratory. You will be able to confidently carry out bulk sample analysis using PLM and stereo microscopy, ensuring to accurately complete job sheets in a timely manner alongside carrying out general day-to-day tasks such as keeping the laboratory tidy and ensuring all equipment is calibrated correctly.
Experience & Qualifications:
1. Holding the BOHS P401 is essential to the role.
2. Experience working within a busy laboratory for a UKAS accredited Asbestos Consultancy would be beneficial.
3. Well versed in HSG 248 guidelines.
4. Excellent IT skills, able to produce detailed reports based on bulk sample analysis findings.
5. Able to communicate well via phone, email, and face-to-face with colleagues and clients of various levels.
6. Keen eye for detail.
7. Strong work ethic.
The Role:
1. Using internal systems to log all samples upon arrival to the laboratory.
2. Safety bag and correctly label samples prior to storing.
3. Preparing all samples for bulk analysis, ensuring to follow safe working practices.
4. Using PLM and stereo microscopy to carry out bulk sample analysis.
5. Accurately completing job sheets & submitting to clients in a timely manner.
6. Working in line with HSG 248 guidelines.
7. Ensuring to calibrate equipment when required to ensure accuracy.
8. Assisting in maintaining the company's UKAS accreditation.
9. Keeping the laboratory clean and tidy.
10. Assisting in training new starters.
11. Providing support and advice to clients.
