Portfolio Delivery Manager
Whitehall Resources currently require an experienced Delivery Manager to work with a key client based in London.
OVERVIEW:
The EDS Portfolio Delivery Manager will work very closely with the Technology Service Tower Leads as well as the Technology Services Programme Managers and Delivery Management Office Community. You will be accountable for the delivery of complex programmes, projects, products, and services that are delivered by multiple teams often with high technical or operational risk across Finance, HR, Legal, Marketing and Procurement areas. The EDS Portfolio Delivery Manager will support the Product Manager/s in delivering the portfolio outcomes. You will work collaboratively with other delivery leads, Finance, Preferred Vendors, and onsite technical support in delivering Technology solutions to support EDS Technology Projects.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Manage implementation of Technology Services complex portfolio of Projects.
2. Manage the development and maintenance of Technology business cases, plans, status reports, CRAID logs for all Projects.
3. Manage dependencies of varying complexity, potentially planning, and feeding into larger programmes and sub-portfolios.
4. Remove blockers and manage risks, divisional budgets, and SME delivery teams.
5. Balance divisional objectives and redeploy delivery teams and resources as portfolio priorities change.
6. Develop detailed Technology Business Cases to support individual Projects.
7. Have a good knowledge of Agile and Waterfall methodologies.
8. Understand, coordinate, and communicate to complex stakeholder groups, balancing priorities.
9. Act as the driving force to continuously improve the ways of working.
10. Establish metrics and success criteria for each of the portfolio of Projects.
11. Coach to ensure the success of critical, initial events, Project Governance & delivery methodology.
12. Measure and communicate on the changes and the progress of the Project delivery teams and benchmark the Projects progress.
13. Establish and facilitate relentless improvement by working closely with Programme Team and functions to handle impediments in a timely manner.
CAPABILITIES AND EXPERIENCE:
1. Planning: You know how to lead a continual planning process in a very complex environment. You can plan beyond product delivery, identify dependencies in plans across services, and coordinate delivery.
2. Agile and Lean practices: You know how to coach and lead teams in Agile and Lean practices, continuously reflecting and challenging the team.
3. Commercial management: You can act as the escalation point and resolve large or high-risk commercial management issues associated with the Portfolio.
4. Communication and Management skills: You can mediate between people and mend relationships, managing stakeholder expectations and facilitating discussions about high risk and complexity.
5. Community collaboration: You know how to solve and unblock delivery issues between teams or departments at the highest level.
6. Financial management: You know how to influence or create complex budgets and manage the budget you are given.
7. Maintaining delivery momentum: You know how to optimise the delivery flow of teams and actively address risks, issues, and dependencies.
8. Making a process work: You can identify and challenge organisational processes of increasing complexity.
Managerial Experience:
1. Experienced relationship manager with senior stakeholders across the organisation.
2. Proven track record of leading and motivating teams.
3. Experience of building and nurturing a small team.
Professional Qualifications:
1. PMP or PRINCE2.
2. Good to have: SAFe, e.g. SPC, or other Agile framework certifications.
Skills (Expertise needed to perform the key responsibilities):
1. Extensive experience delivering complex infrastructure solutions in a global enterprise environment at scale across Finance, HR, Marketing, Legal, and procurement systems.
2. Adept at influencing stakeholders and championing ideas in an environment with uncertainty around change.
3. Excellent skills and experience in stakeholder management and collaboration.
4. Knowledge of Lean and Agile principles and practices.
5. Advanced skill in mentoring, coaching, listening, and providing feedback.
6. Strong relationship management skills, including partnering and consulting with stakeholders.
7. Demonstrates servant leadership.
8. Comfort with ambiguity and uncertainty.
