Location: Sutton (Expected to provide cross-site coverage if needed) one-year fixed term contract. A fantastic opportunity has emerged for a passionate, highly motivated, and dynamic pharmacist to lead the clinical trials pharmacist team at the Royal Marsden NHS Foundation Trust (Sutton Site) for one-year fixed term contract.
This is an exciting time to join the Royal Marsden Hospital Clinical Trials Department. Our service is built around providing a high-quality service to our patients and staff of the Trust.
The Royal Marsden is a world-leading cancer centre with two hospitals: one in Chelsea, London, and another in Sutton, Surrey. We also have a satellite Medical Day Care Unit located on the grounds of Kingston Hospital, Surrey.
This position will be based in Sutton but will require working at our Chelsea site, when necessary, to ensure consistent leadership and maintain the quality and speed of service during absences and annual leave.

• To act as lead Pharmacist for Trust Research & Development (R&D), including by delegation for individual clinical trials
• Responsible for the leadership and strategic development of the pharmacy clinical trials service across the Trust, including clinical education, training and research
• Responsible for the overall governance of clinical trials in Pharmacy, ensuring regulatory requirements are met
• Responsible for ensuring all necessary Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) are in place, reviewed and updated in relation to Clinical Research & Development (R&D)
• Lead and manage the Pharmacy Clinical Trial service in accordance with current UK Clinical Trial Regulations, the Medicines for Human Use (Clinical Trials) regulation 2004, the EU Clinical Trial Directive (2001) and all updates, together with ICH GCP guidelines and departmental procedures and ensure provision of a high quality service to patients and staff at the Royal Marsden
• To ensure standards agreed for the clinical trial pharmacy service are met, ensuring performance is monitored and that services are provided efficiently, to the required GCP standards, and in accordance with the needs of users
• Key member of several Trust R&D multidisciplinary groups

• Acts as a role model for other pharmacy and Trust staff within The Royal Marsden NHS Foundation Trust, and for Pharmacy Clinical Trials services at a national level, with a clear vision for developing new ways of working and improving service delivery, in line with NHS policies and strategy.
• To undertake and manage Trust personnel procedures such as grievance, poor performance and disciplinary when required.
• To be responsible for the recruitment, selection and retention of staff to the pharmacy clinical trials team and participate in wider recruitment and selection across the pharmacy department and Trust when requested.
• To lead the provision of a high quality, safe, efficient and responsive Pharmacy Clinical Trials service to meet the needs of the Trust, across all tumour sites
• To strategically plan, develop and monitor Pharmacy Clinical Trial services, taking overall responsibility for ensuring the safe, clinically effective and economic management of medicines and compliance with current legislation, professional standards, organisational objectives and relevant 3rd party contracts
