What the Job Involves This role encompasses key leadership responsibilities focused on providing strategic direction and operational management for finance, pensions, and procurement services. As Director, you will work in partnership with the Chief Executive, Corporate Directors, and cabinet members to set the vision and strategic policies within your domain, ensuring alignment with broader council objectives. You will oversee the development and implementation of the Medium Term Financial Strategy and associated plans, serving as a principal advisor on significant policy and financial decisions. Your role involves continuous improvement of services based on evidence-driven strategies aligned with customer/client purposes, as well as robust management of service performance, risks, and resources to drive outcomes aligned with the council’s priorities. You'll lead strategic financial management initiatives to optimize the council’s revenue and capital investments, providing clear financial advice amidst competing priorities. Key duties also include producing annual accounts, leading treasury management, advancing the council’s procurement capabilities, and acting as the County Treasurer for the Wiltshire Pension Fund. The position requires active participation in the council’s Extended Leadership Team, contributing to a cohesive strategic leadership approach.
