Our client, a Tier 1 supplier to global OEMs, specialises in the design and manufacture of high-quality interior components for the automotive sector. Due to continued growth and upcoming vehicle programme launches, they are seeking an experienced Manufacturing Engineer to join their operations team. This is a hands-on role requiring strong knowledge of manufacturing processes, continuous improvement, and CAD, with a clear understanding of the Tier 1/OEM automotive environment. Key Responsibilities: Lead the implementation of new manufacturing processes for interior trim components. Support NPI (New Product Introduction) activities ensuring process readiness for SOP (Start of Production). Develop and maintain process documentation including PFMEAs, control plans, work instructions and layout planning. Drive continuous improvement initiatives across safety, quality, cost, and delivery KPIs using Lean and Six Sigma methodologies. Use CAD software (e.g., CATIA, Siemens NX, SolidWorks) to support tooling design, fixture layout and line balancing. Liaise with cross-functional teams including design, quality, and production to resolve process and design issues. Evaluate and implement automation or semi-automation opportunities to improve productivity. Ensure compliance with TS16949 / IATF 16949 and other relevant automotive standards. Provide technical support and training to production teams. Participate in root cause analysis and corrective action plans for internal or customer-reported issues. Essential Requirements: Degree-qualified in Mechanical, Manufacturing or Automotive Engineering (or equivalent). Proven experience as a Manufacturing Engineer within a Tier 1 supplier or OEM, ideally in interior components or trim. Strong understanding of automotive manufacturing processes – plastics, assemblies, adhesives, fixtures, jigs, etc. Proficient in CAD software for tooling layouts and process planning. Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, and CI tools (Kaizen, 5S, VSM). Familiarity with APQP, PPAP, FMEA, and control plans. Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
