Role Purpose: The Water Systems Technician is responsible for ensuring the ongoing complianceand upkeep of all water systems within the building. This includes: Maintaining Water Quality: Regularly monitoring and testing water quality toensure it meets all regulatory standards and safety guidelines. Troubleshooting: Promptly identifying and resolving any issues that may arisewith the water systems, including leaks, blockages, or contamination. Safety Compliance: Implementing and adhering to all safety protocols andprocedures related to water systems, including disinfection and backflowprevention. Supply Management: Ensuring a consistent and adequate supply of water to thebuilding to meet the needs of occupants and operations. System Maintenance: Performing routine maintenance and repairs on all watersystem components, such as pumps, valves, and pipes. Record Keeping: Maintaining accurate and up-to-date records of water system inspections, tests, and maintenance activities. Responsibilities Water Quality Assurance: Regularly collect and analyze water samples to assess variousparameters like pH, turbidity, chlorine levels, and the presence of contaminants. Compare test results against established regulatory standards and internalquality benchmarks. Implement corrective actions, such as adjusting chemical treatments orfiltration processes, to maintain optimal water quality. Maintain detailed records of water quality test results and any correctivemeasures taken. Equipment Maintenance and Inspection: Conduct routine inspections of all water treatment equipment, includingpumps, filters, valves, and chemical feed systems. Perform preventive maintenance tasks, such as lubrication, cleaning, andcalibration, to ensure optimal equipment performance. Identify and diagnose equipment malfunctions or breakdowns. Repair or replace faulty components as needed, following manufacturerguidelines and safety protocols. Maintain accurate maintenance logs and equipment service records. Specialized Treatment Processes: Operate and maintain specialized water treatment systems, such asreverse osmosis, UV disinfection, or ion exchange units. Monitor and adjust treatment parameters to achieve desired water qualityoutcomes. Troubleshoot and resolve operational issues with treatment processes. Implement process improvements to enhance efficiency and effectiveness. Regulatory Compliance and Safety: Stay informed about current water safety regulations and healthstandards. Ensure facility operations adhere to all applicable local, state, and federalregulations. Implement and maintain a comprehensive safety program, includinghazard identification, risk assessment, and employee training. Develop and enforce safe work procedures for handling chemicals andaccessing water systems. Provide guidance and training to staff on water safety practices andemergency response protocols. Additional Responsibilities: Collaborate with other departments, such as engineering or maintenance,to address water-related issues. Participate in the development and implementation of water conservation initiatives. Stay updated on advancements in water treatment technologies and bestpractices. May be required to respond to after-hours emergencies or system failures. The Water Treatment Specialist/Facility Manager plays a crucial role in safeguardingpublic health and upholding the integrity of our water infrastructure. Theirresponsibilities encompass a wide range of tasks, including: Ensuring Water Quality and Safety: Rigorously monitoring and analyzing waterquality parameters to guarantee compliance with regulatory standards and thedelivery of safe, potable water to consumers. This involves conducting regulartests, interpreting results, and implementing corrective actions as needed. Operational Management: Overseeing the daily operations of the watertreatment facility, including the supervision of staff, maintenance of equipment,and management of chemical inventories. This also entails coordinating with otherdepartments and external stakeholders to ensure smooth operations. Process Optimization: Continuously evaluating and improving treatmentprocesses to enhance efficiency, reduce costs, and minimize environmental impact. This may involve implementing new technologies, optimizing chemicaldosages, and streamlining operational procedures. Emergency Response: Developing and implementing emergency responseplans to address unforeseen events such as equipment failures, chemical spills,or natural disasters. This includes coordinating with emergency services andproviding timely communication to the public. Regulatory Compliance: Staying abreast of evolving regulations and industrystandards, ensuring that the facility operates in full compliance.
