The post would be based at the Newham Hospital and is part of Barts NHS Trust.
This position typically suits anyone wishing to undertake further training in a medical specialty and education prior to or as part of an Out of Programme Experience (OOPE) from their training programme. For the latter, prior agreement must be sought with the relevant Specialty Training Committee (STC) and Deanery.
Responsibilities:
1. Engage in educational delivery and support other specialties and disciplines within education, including simulation and clinical skills.
2. Work closely with the Associate Director of Simulation to identify Educational Deliverables.
3. Develop and maintain a personal development plan regarding service and educational work.
4. Participate in regular appraisals with a clinical supervisor and the Associate Dean for Undergraduates.
Qualifications:
Applicants are expected to have at least two years of accredited Foundation Programme Training, be on track to pass their ARCP, and have previous experience in delivering education.
The post will have opportunities to be involved in other teaching programmes, including Foundation Trainees and interdisciplinary simulation training. The Education Academy within Barts Health is expanding in response to the need for increased educational opportunities, including access to emerging digital technologies.
Barts Health Simulation Service has four dedicated Simulation and Essential Clinical Skills Centres based at Newham Hospital, Whipps Cross University Hospital, St Bartholomew’s, and the Royal London. Each of these centres has a proud history of being innovative and award-winning.
The contract is 12 months, fixed-term, and is full-time, with 0.4 WTE within Education and 0.6 WTE clinical work relevant to the specialty. All fellows joining our team will be invited to join our Education Forum, where they will have access to a structured development programme. All fellows are encouraged to undertake a PG Cert in Education, and for those who already possess this, there will be an opportunity to undertake ILM3 (Leadership & Management Course). Funding will be available to support this.
