About Adam: Adam (9) lives at home with his Mum, Dad, Sister (1½), and grandparents. He is an active, loving, and extremely happy boy who enjoys swimming, playing, going out for walks, attending school, bowling, hot chocolate, music, and dancing. Adam currently attends an SEN School, swimming lessons, horse riding, intense physiotherapy sessions, and will soon add SLT, OT, Dietician, and Hydrotherapy to his agenda. Adam dislikes loud noises and crowded places but has enjoyed going to the theatre and the Butterfly farm. He has Cerebral Palsy, Global developmental delay, and epilepsy, which is controlled with medication. Adam can walk short distances with support and uses a buggy for outings. His speech and understanding are significantly delayed, and he often vocalizes through shouting or screaming.
Overview: We are recruiting two Family Support Workers to support Adam and his family. Adam’s Grandpa has early stages of Alzheimer’s and requires understanding, empathy, and support. When Adam is at school, you will help look after his little sister and perform some general housework to relieve his parents, including laundry and light housekeeping. The family employs a weekly cleaner. Adam needs full assistance with dressing, toileting, changing, preparing food, drinks, and feeding, as well as planning, supervising, and supporting all therapies, activities, bath time, playtime, and outings. There may be times when the home will be busy with family and friends’ gatherings, so someone comfortable with this and willing to help would be a great asset.
Who this job would suit: This role would suit a driver with a good understanding of working within a family home, experience with children under 2, and those with learning and physical disabilities. Someone who is happy to assist the whole family and is open to occasional family holidays and covering staff annual leave would be beneficial.
What’s great about this role: You will become part of a larger team supporting this wonderful family. Full training through a Case Management company will be provided, along with professional support and supervision.
