Walsall Healthcare NHS Trust provides integrated acute and community Healthcare in the West Midlands serving a population of 260,000 residents. Walsall Manor Hospital houses the full range of district general hospital services. The £170 million development was completed in 2010 and we are continually upgrading. Construction of the new integrated critical care unit was completed in 2018, extension of a Neonatal Unit and an approved plan to build a brand new, state of the art Emergency Department which commenced in 2021.

Are you an enthusiastic, motivated and driven clinician with a desire to develop our workforce? Do you have a minimum of 2 years Emergency Department experience or Acute Hospital or Urgent Care Experience and would like to work in Practice Education and make a positive difference to patient care? If so we have an exciting opportunity to facilitate education for the Emergency Department at Walsall Healthcare NHS Trust.
Using the Trust’s care values, you will focus on delivering the best care to our patients through education and development of our future and current workforce. The majority of this role would be clinical, providing support and mentorship to staff, assisting supervisors and assessors and being highly visible to all. The primary focus of the role is to support the transition of our newly registered nurses, with the added focus on skills acquisition, clinical competence and quality improvement within the Emergency Department. Experience of developing and delivering training packages in a clinical setting would be advantageous. Passion to develop and support others is essential combined with the ability to build relationships rapidly.
Main duties of the job
It is essential that applicant hold a registered professional qualification, have a wide range of clinical experience supported by excellent evidence based knowledge and skills as well as knowledge of clinical governance and risk management. This post requires the successful applicant to be self-motivated, with excellent organisational and communication skills and evidence of continuing professional development.

* 2 years experience within Emergency, Acute or Urgent care
* Teaching and Assessing Qualification
Experience and Skills
* Experience of undertaking role of either/or mentor/preceptor/clinical supervisor
* Experience within Emergency/ acute Care
* Must provide evidence of participation in the education and development junior staff, advice and counsel
* Must be conversant with all aspects of nursing care within the speciality
* Must demonstrate possession of a wide range of “enhanced/extended scope” clinical skills

* Flexible and positive attitude to healthcare, caring manner with dignity and respect for others
* Awareness of strengths and weaknesses and areas for development
* The ability to work flexibly in order to meet the needs of the service
