Diagnostic Laboratory Analyst (KSDLA) Inverness, Scotland

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
* Logistics Responsibilities:
* Diagnostic Samples Management: Receive, log, and process diagnostic samples on the customer portal (iWISE).
* Client Portal Maintenance: Maintain and update the iWise system and working closely with the Global iWise Manager for performing updates and new processes testing, training and implementation.
* Stock Control: Monitor and replenish laboratory consumables and client consumables stock levels.
* Sample Storage & Disposal: Ensure proper storage and disposal of samples in compliance with company guidelines.
* Client Orders & Shipping: Prepare and ship client consumables orders as required.
* Client Communication: Serve as the main contact point for general client inquiries and client portal usage and training.
* Sample Shipping & Receiving: Act as the primary liaison for incoming and outgoing diagnostic samples.
* Sampling Kits Preparation: Assist in the preparation and production of sampling kits for clients.
* Maintain and update diagnostic samples shipping and importation permits with the responsible organisations and couriers.
* Oversee the maintenance and servicing of general laboratory equipment, including arranging annual external service and calibration.
* Laboratory Responsibilities:
* Histopathology Sample Processing: Assist in processing histopathology samples, slides production, scanning, and archiving.
* Reagent Preparation: Prepare and maintain histopathology reagents as required.
* Equipment Maintenance: Support histologists in maintaining laboratory equipment and ensuring timely servicing.
* Cross-Training & Rotation: Participate in rotational training across diagnostic laboratories, including bacteriology and PCR labs.
* EHSQ Standards Compliance: Contribute to maintaining high Environmental, Health, Safety, and Quality (EHSQ) standards within the laboratory, implementing of good laboratory practices and participate in development of SOPs and HSE plans for the laboratory operations.
QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE
* BSc in Biology, Aquaculture, or a related field. Postgraduate studies are an advantage.
* Knowledge of fish production sites in Scotland and Ireland is highly preferable.
* 1-2 years of experience working in diagnostic laboratories (microbiology, PCR, and histopathology labs) is preferable.
* Prior experience in aquaculture or fish health is beneficial but not essential.

* Familiarity with sample tracking systems and diagnostic workflows.
* Computer skills are required.
* Be flexible and able to work for extended hours if required.
